Steve is the Chief Executive Officer of CoastalStates Bank. Prior to joining CoastalStates in 2017, he previously served as Chief Strategy Officer and General Counsel at Community & Southern Bank. Steve is responsible for mergers and acquisitions, strategic planning and special projects, and investor relations. Steve was formerly an attorney in the Financial Services and Products Group at the law firm of Alston & Bird, LLP in Atlanta, Georgia. While at Alston & Bird, Steve’s practice was focused primarily on public and private mergers and acquisitions and corporate finance transactions in the financial services industry.
Randy Dolyniuk | President
As founder of CoastalStates Bank in 2004, Randy serves as President. As a banking veteran with over thirty years of experience, he has dedicated his focus on community banking throughout his career and providing the ability to serve customers with unparalleled service and best in class products and services. Randy remains actively involved in various community organizations, most recently serving as Chairman of the Technical College of the Lowcountry Foundation. He is a graduate of the University of Georgia with a Bachelor of Arts in Business Administration.
John Lewis | Executive Vice President - North Georgia Region
Before joining CoastalStates as Executive Vice President of the North Georgia region, John was most recently the President and CEO of Foothills Community Bank and its holding company, First Citizens Financial Corporation. There he led a successful recapitalization effort and was instrumental in rebuilding earnings and improving regulatory ratings. He was also CEO of Verity Bank (Winder and Cornelia, GA) from 2007 until 2014 and President and CEO of Mountain State Bank (Dawsonville and Cumming, GA) from 2002 until 2006 and guided both de novo banks to a profitable and successful sale. Throughout his 30+ years of community banking experience, John has been active in civic and professional organizations including service on numerous civic, volunteer, charitable and municipal boards. He was named Paul Harris Fellow and Rotarian of the Year, served as Chairman of the Business Advisory Council of the Mike Cottrell College of Business at the University of North Georgia. He received a Bachelor of Science in Administrative Management from Clemson University in 1981. He graduated from the Advanced Management Program of the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill School of Banking and from the Louisiana State University School of Banking Professional Masters of Banking program.
Gary Dowell | Executive Vice President - Atlanta Regional President
Gary joined CoastalStates Bank in 2018 and is be responsible for building and leading our commercial banking group in Atlanta, GA. Gary brings 31 years of banking experience to his new role with CoastalStates Bank. After 19 years of working in North Carolina, Gary moved to Atlanta in 2006 with RBC Bank. Subsequently, Gary worked with PNC Bank and most recently with State Bank and Trust where he served as Atlanta Region President for five years. Gary is a native of Winston-Salem, N.C. He earned a bachelor’s degree in business administration from East Carolina University. An active member of the Atlanta community, he serves on the Board of Directors for Lutheran Family Services and the Advisory Council for Action Ministries. He has actively served with the Metro Atlanta Chamber of Commerce, the Cobb Chamber of Commerce and Cobb Edge.
Steve LaSota | Chief Administrative Officer, General Counsel, and Corporate Secretary
Steve joined the CoastalStates team in 2017 and serves as the Bank’s Chief Administrative Officer, General Counsel, and Corporate Secretary. Steve brings a passion for collaborating with his teammates to design Counsel, and Corporate Secretary. Steve brings a passion for collaborating with his teammates to design and implement efficient and scalable platforms related to the Bank’s Legal, Human Resources, Compliance, Risk Management, and Corporate Services infrastructure. Prior to joining CoastalStates, Steve served as the General Counsel for Bank of North Carolina / BNC Bank – a $7.5 Billion publicly traded regional community bank - through BNC’s merger with and into Pinnacle Financial Partners. Steve previously practiced law as a commercial real estate attorney at Sutherland, Asbill & Brennan, LLP (now known as Eversheds Sutherland) prior to joining Steve Stone and Tony Valduga as Assistant General Counsel for Community & Southern Bank in 2011.
Tony Valduga | Chief Financial Officer
Tony brings a deep background in financial institution finance and accounting to CoastalStates Bank. Before joining CoastalStates Bank in 2017, he served as the Chief Financial Officer of Community & Southern Bank. Having previously held positions at PricewaterhouseCoopers, LLP within the firm’s Banking & Capital Markets practice, Tony has expertise advising both public and private financial institutions on a wide range of issues including mergers & acquisitions, public offerings and filings, FDIC-assisted transaction accounting and compliance, and other complex finance and accounting related matters.
Ric Spiehs | President and Chief Executive Officer
Ric returned to CoastalStates Bank in 2018 to serve as President and Chief Executive Officer of CoastalStates Mortgage, the Bank’s wholly-owned subsidiary. With over 15 years of experience in the mortgage industry, in various sales and management roles at local mortgage companies and national retail banks. Ric’s vast experience in mortgage sales management has provided leadership through the ever- changing landscape of the mortgage lending business. He has served as president of the Mortgage Lender’s Association of Hilton Head. Ric holds a Master’s in Business Administration from the University of South Carolina and a Bachelor of Business Administration from Temple University.
Diana McDougall | Executive Vice President of Retail Banking
Diana has served on the management team for CoastalStates Bank since the Bank’s inception in 2004. As the leader of the Retail Banking team, her responsibilities include retail and business banking, business development, retail sales and branch administration. Diana has more than 30 years of experience in and around the banking industry. She serves as Treasurer of the Zonta Club of Hilton Head as and is an active member of other community organizations.
Brad Turner | Chief Credit Officer
Brad serves as Chief Credit Officer of CoastalStates Bank. Prior to joining the Bank in 2017, Brad’s extensive banking career has included several executive leadership roles specializing in Government Guaranteed Lending. His banking background also includes commercial underwriting and risk. Brad holds a bachelor’s degree in industrial relations from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill.
Ellen Tressler | Director of Project Management and Operational Strategy
Ellen serves as the Director of Project Management and Operational Strategy at CoastalStates Bank. Before joining the leadership team in 2018, she held various senior and executive positions in the financial industry most recently at the Bank of the Ozarks, Community & Southern Bank, and Regions Financial. Ellen’s primary focus in recent years has been on merger & acquisition activity and complex enterprise wide projects. She also has a broad array of experience in the information technology, mortgage, operations and compliance areas.
Larry DesPres | Chief Information Officer
With over 20 years in technology and community banking, Larry is head of Information Technology at CoastalStates Bank as the Chief Information Officer. Since 2017, he has lead CoastalStates Bank in technology strategy, execution and delivery. He holds a bachelor’s degree in industrial electronics from Northern Michigan University.
Lauren Hemby| Chief Accounting Officer
Prior to joining CoastalStates Bank in 2017, Lauren worked in various roles at both Community & Southern Bank and SunTrust Bank, where she managed the financialworked in various roles at both Community & Southern Bank and SunTrust Bank, where she managed the financial aspects of mergers and acquisitions activity and led a variety of other accounting, finance, and regulatory areas. Lauren also worked at PricewaterhouseCoopers, LLP, where she served clients in the firm’s financial services assurance practice, including banks, insurance companies, real estate investors, and employee benefit plans. She holds both bachelor’s and master’s of Accountancy from Wake Forest University.
